Brie Larson, Lady Gaga Among Top-Discussed Celebrities on International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day celebrated women’s rights across the world. This year, the central campaign hashtag was #BalanceforBetter to call for a gender-balanced world. Looking at the top Twitter authors, @realdonaldtrump tops the list as many women criticized the president for misogyny. @womensday was also prominent on Twitter, as the official campaign for IWD. @brielarson received many mentions as Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first solo female superhero for her starring role in Captain Marvel. Celebrities Lady Gaga, Tiffany Young, and Ariana Grande tweeted messages on IWD.
The discussion revolved around equality, history of women’s rights, women of color, and uplifting messages. Naturally, brands found a way to capitalize on the conversation. Looking at the top logos, Spotify topped the list by curating a Top Female Artists of 2019 (so far) list.
