Social Media Drives Hype on Fall TV Shows

In the world of #SocialTV, summer hiatus does not mean a break and fall TV shows begin marketing long before their September debut.
This summer, Crimson Hexagon teamed up with Natan Edelsburg and Lost Remote to analyze the buzz on Twitter about television shows set to premier in the fall.

For some shows, including Joss Whedon’s Agents of SHIELD, the excitement and social media buzz started many months before the show’s debut. In May, fans used the hashtag #CoulsonLives to unlock an exclusive show trailer. This type of targeted and engaging social content drew fans to the show early in the summer.
Crimson Hexagon’s analysis of the social TV buzz also found that Comic-Con and the Television Critics Association panels were major platforms for #SocialTV during the summer of 2013.
