Global initiative extends company’s social media analytics platform to researchers, classrooms and nonprofits
Crimson Hexagon, the social media analytics software company, today announced the launch of its Social Impact Program, which provides nonprofit, classroom and research communities with reduced-fee access to the company’s ForSight™ analytics platform. The ForSight platform offers a suite of technologies, algorithms, metrics and social media data visualizations that enable academic and nonprofit organizations to glean insights into today’s most pressing business, social and political challenges.

Academic researchers, educators and nonprofit leaders have a need for sophisticated social media insights, but too often do not have the resources necessary to access accurate and actionable data. Crimson Hexagon’s Social Impact Program was created to bridge this gap and give the research, classroom and nonprofit communities access to the company’s library of more than 500 billion social media posts and advanced analytics tools. The program also offers partners a range of opportunities to collaborate on research projects and share best practices with one another.
The program was conceived in 2012, and today has 17 partners, including the Harvard University Department of Government, The University of Texas School of Journalism, USAID and the United Nations Global Pulse Program. The official launch of the Social Impact Program marks the next phase of growth for the initiative, with co-directors Becca Lewis and Elise Tjernagel responsible for identifying new partners and enriching programmatic offerings.
“The ForSight platform has transformed our ability to understand large-scale reactions to important political events worldwide. With it we can begin to answer questions that arise from people engaging with politics using social media. In a forthcoming article, we use it to study views of America in the Arabic speaking world. It is a leapfrog technology for political science,” said Dustin Tingley, associate professor of political economy at Harvard University.
The Social Impact Program is the only initiative on the market that allows nonprofits, academic researchers and educators to access sophisticated social media analytics at a reduced fee. Partners use the ForSight platform for a variety of reasons, from conducting research on political events and prejudices, to educating the next generation of social marketers, to planning for marketing and fundraising campaigns.
