Rami Malek and Christian Bale took home the Golden Globe awards for Best Actor in a Drama and Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical, respectively. Both seem to be going head to head for the Best Actor prize but the fans were all about Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born. Bradley Cooper received the largest conversation and the 2nd most positive. Rami Malek wasn’t close behind in terms of volume, but the conversation online surrounding his performance was widely negative.
This year saw so many amazing performances by actresses. Yalitza Aparicio made an impressive debut in Netflix’s Roma. Glenn Close was amazing as a scorned wife who wasn’t given enough credit for her work and Olivia Colman made us laugh and cry as Queen Anne in The Favourite. But it was Lady Gaga who stole everyone’s hearts as Ali, the aspiring singer who falls for the seasoned Jackson Maine. Lady Gaga dominated the conversation online and had a strongly positive conversation.
The 2019 Oscar race is finally underway and the clear fan-favorite is A Star is Born. The film was the favorite film, actor, and actress of the year and Cooper’s directing not being nominated is considered a snub. Now only if the Academy will listen and give all the prizes to this beautiful movie.
